  • Do Maty's Cough Syrups Need to Be Refrigerated?

There is no need to refrigerate Maty's cough syrups. You can store them at room temperature. However, the honey, which is the main ingredient in our cough syrups, may get thicker over time. So be sure to shake yours vigorously before each use to loosen it up a bit!

  • When Should I Take Maty's Acid Indigestion Relief And How Often?

Most people take our acid indigestion relief syrup at the first sign of that burning feeling they get in their chest and throat. Since it usually works within the first 5 minutes after taking it, that is an excellent way to use it. However, many people use our Acid Indigestion Relief as a preventative before they eat foods they know will cause indigestion. This helps to prevent heartburn in the first place. Over time, it even helps improve your digestion.

Since it is made from whole-food ingredients, you can take as much as you feel necessary. We recommend you start with 1-2 teaspoons. You can always take more if your symptoms do not subside. For persistent heartburn or indigestion, be sure to talk to your doctor.

  • Why Does Your Label Say Don't Put Maty's Vapor Rub On Your Face?

You can never be too careful. We recommend you don’t put Maty’s Vapor Rub on your face to avoid the possibility of it getting in your eyes, which may cause irritation.

  • Why Did You Change Maty's Vapor Rub Formula?

We removed the wintergreen from Maty’s Vapor Rub (link) formula since it contains a natural plant chemical called salicylate (a primary ingredient in aspirin). Many people are sensitive to salicylates, so that’s why we decided to remove it from our formula. Our new combination of eucalyptus, peppermint, pine, and tea tree essential oils are great for the immune system. We believe this combination will work even better than our previous recipe. If you are a fan of our old vapor rub formula, try our new recipe and let us know what you think!

  • Why Does It State On Your Package That This Product Was Made In A Shared Use Facility?

Maty’s products are manufactured in a shared use facility. This means there are other products being made within the same facility sharing the same manufacturing assembly lines. However, our facilities are GMP compliant, which is an FDA term that means it complies with “good manufacturing practices” set by the FDA. They regulate the manufacturing of our products and audit the facilities often. They have strict guidelines as to how everything in the facility is managed, processed, and cleaned. These guidelines ensure the products made at the plant are safe for human consumption.

  • What Is Zinc Gluconate And Is It Natural?

Zinc is an essential mineral that aids in strengthening the immune system. It is a mineral that comes from the ground. It must be refined and purified before it can be safe for human consumption.

  • Can I Take Maty's Cough Syrup With Other Medications?

Absolutely. Maty’s products are made with whole food ingredients. This means there is worry about drug interactions.

  • Given The Dosage, Can I Take Too Much Of Maty's Cough Syrup?

Maty’s products are made with whole food ingredients. This means you can take as much of our cough syrups as you’d like. You can even take them as an immune booster every day.

  • What Is The Difference Between Maty's Family And Kids Cough Syrups?

There is no difference between the two cough syrups. You’ll find the ingredients are the same. The packaging is different to accommodate labeling for children. That’s it!

  • Why Do We Use Buckwheat Honey In Our Cough Formula?

Honey is known to quiet a cough and relieve sore throats. But did you know that darker honey has a higher antioxidant content than lighter honey? Buckwheat honey is one of the darkest honey produced in the United States. In a study conducted by the University of Illinois in 2002, it was found that buckwheat honey had the highest antioxidant activity of the various floral honey tested. That’s why we add it to Maty’s Natural Cough Syrups.

  • Why Donʼt I Just Use Plain Buckwheat Honey Instead Of Buying Maty's Cough Syrup?

You could, but you won’t get Maty’s ten immune-boosting ingredients in a teaspoon of honey. We’ve spent years developing our formulas!.

  • If Maty's Baby Chest Rub Is Menthol-Free, What Makes It Effective?

Research suggests that menthol can be an irritant, causing the body to produce more mucus. Although this increase in mucus flow may benefit us when we have a cold, babies have tiny nostrils. This increase in mucous flow may cause respiratory distress in babies. Maty’s Baby Chest Rub combines essential oils that are gentle, soothing, and appropriate for any child over three months.

  • Why Doesn't Maty's Use Petroleum?

Petroleum jelly is a derivative of oil refining. The problem with petroleum-based products is not the medium itself; it is the byproducts that contaminate the substance during the manufacturing process. Unless all the contaminants are removed, it can potentially be hazardous. Therefore, petroleum jelly is only as good as its refining process. Some of these byproducts are known carcinogens like Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and 1,4-Dioxane. They have been studied around the world for work-related exposures. There’s no guarantee that manufacturers can get all the impurities out.Our philosophy is, “If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, then why would you put it on your skin?” We use only natural oils in our baby ointment, baby chest rub and vapor rub. Skin is your body’s largest organ. Whatever you put on your skin or your child’s skin quickly gets absorbed into the bloodstream. With that in mind, would you want to absorb chemicals and toxins? This is why our products are petroleum free.

  • Are There Any Side Effects From Taking Maty’s Cough Syrups?

Unless you have a known food allergy to any of our ingredients, there is no need to worry about harmful side effects.

Maty’s products are unique because they contain whole-food ingredients that you can find in your kitchen. You never have to be concerned about harmful side effects or drug interactions.
